A family weekend home, sits in a farmland inherited by the house owner from her parents. The site offered a natural central entrance, allowing for the placement of the staff quarters to be near the entrance, where as the Main house found itself weaving among large groove of matured chikko trees in the center of a 4 acre plot.
The house was proportioned to two volumes connected by a gateway entrance hugging the large Chikkoo Tree. Designed on load bearing principles to allow the house to feel grounded and rooted to its context. Borrowing from the traditional construction typoligies from the neighbouring areas, the walls are constructed of weathered exposed facing bricks made from different blends of clay adds a rustic charm fused with modern comfort. Both bedroom wings are kept cozy and inward looking, where as the voluminious living room constructed in solid timber posts and beams overlook the farmland. A double layered roof doesnt allow the heat to penetrate through the summer months, with accesible roofscapes to enjoy the cozy winter weather. A small kitchentte adds the farm to table appeal for the owner to harvest and support her organic produce as an experience of the farmland.
